Being Fickle on CD

Every now and then a writer will come along who brings a fresh look at the things we've seen and heard before so many times. As a writer and musician, Wes Pickering does just that. Fusing together insightful lyrics with memorable melody lines, his songs are both inspiring and easily related to. 'I write from what I live out day to day: my friendships, my joys, my struggles, he says. There's a certain part of me that doesn't let me sleep well at night unless I have surrendered everything that is on my mind. Writing music allows me to do just that.' Both comforting and penetrating, his passionate lyrics easily find their way into mind and the heart of each listener. 'I think that songwriting demands a certain level of vulnerability from the author, a willingness to admit faults and show your own idiosyncrasies. The best songs, in my opinion, are often the ones that others can look at and think to themselves, 'hey, I could have written that: I've felt that way too.'' His live performances are both energetic and down-to-earth. 'It's like the icing on the cake after you've spent so much time making a record," says Wes. "You get to showcase what you've worked on and crafted and see an immediate reaction from the audience.' Whether it's with a full band or just a solo show, Wes's performances are always crowd pleasers. They are also an encouragement to those who hear his words as he sings and explains the songs during the concert. 'Sometimes I play a song and I can tell that the words are really resonating with the audience. It's always an important part of the show to stop and say Let me tell you why I wrote these things. I've found that talking about God, family, and friendship are just as important as singing about them. That's a huge part of what people take home with them, whether I say it from the stage or after the show one on one. ' Wes is alum of Belmont University where he earned a BBA from the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. While there he was president of the Belmont Songwriters Association, a group of artists dedicated to perfecting their craft. Brought up into a family devoted to full time overseas missions work, he spent most of his childhood years in the Netherlands. This is where he first began exploring music on the piano and percussion. In the late 90s he moved to North Carolina and began playing guitar and writing songs. Since then Wes has been writing nonstop. He finished his first CD Being Fickle in the summer of 2005. The songs on it are a clear reflection of his heart. He has played numerous concerts at churches, colleges, camps, and coffee shops and has appeared on several recordings by some of Nashville's finest musicians. He has led worship at many summer camps, churches, and youth groups. In 2007 Wes recorded his much anticipated second record "Poetry and Patience." The songs are a testament to his ability to connect with his audience, penning thoughts that resonate with every member of his generation. Musically and lyrically matured, "Poetry and Patience" has officially marked Wes as an artists that's here to stay and is destined for great things. 'When it all boils down, I think this is why God created music in the first place, to give us a medium through which to pour out our worship to Him. ' If you meet Wes, you can easily tell that he's excited about sharing his stories and songs with anyone who will listen. And the more he writes and plays, the more people are listening. Wes Pickering's music is, without a doubt, a breath of fresh air for every listener.
