Description

Valaida Snow's unbreakable will paired with sheer luck enabled her to survive arrest and internment in Nazi occupied Europe. After returning to America, it took her a long time to recover from the dire events that also had devastating effects on her health. Despite these hardships, Snow took up the trumpet again and continued her career. Despite her dreadful experiences, she was able to stage a comeback, including irregular record sessions. Denmark was already occupied at the time, but as in France, it was still able to record hot jazz under the nose of the Nazi occupants. She is in top form because of the amazing qualities of her Scandinavian cohorts. It was several years before Snow was able record again.
