The Comsat Angels' sound on this album is often compared to contemporaries such as Joy Division and Echo & the Bunnymen, but it possesses a unique, melancholic edge. The album includes the original version of "Independence Day," which is darker and rawer than the more polished and slightly pop-oriented re-recording featured on their 1983 album "Land".
